Why The Social Fabric
The name
I chose The Social Fabric with intention.
A social fabric is the web of connections, trust and shared values that holds a community together. It lives in the relationships between people, families and institutions, the every day ties that create belonging, make cooperation possible and help communities stay strong through hard times.
How I work
I believe the strongest organisations and communities are built the same way: through trust, genuine relationships and a shared purpose. When people are truly connected; strategy, engagement, change becomes possible and that belief shapes every piece of work I take on.
Where it comes from
The name carriers a deeper meaning. My parents arrived in Australia as refugees with almost nothing. For their entire working lives, they were tailors working long hours in sweatshop conditions because they had to out of survival. Fabric became the backdrop of my childhood as I grew up in that world, my hands in fabric after school helping my parents before I even understood what it meant to work.
There was nothing glamorous about it but that experience taught me: a job can mean different things to different people and the meaning holds importance. For my parents, work was how they kept us fed and safe in a country that didn't yet feel like home.
Choosing this name is how I reclaim that story. The fabric my parents worked to survive, is now something I work by choice, on my own terms and with purpose.
Why I do this
I weave connection and trust between the people and institutions shaping our communities, on purpose, and with pride.
I bring both sides of my story to this work: lived experience of growing up between cultures, and 10+ years gained across sectors. Neither one is enough on its own. Together, they're how I help organisations build strategy, engagement and leadership that actually holds.
